All Three Andover High School Science Teams Finish First In League

Over the last couple of years, the AHS Science team has showed steady growth in a number of areas. One of those areas is participation - just a few years ago, the science team fielded a single team with some rotation in the line up among club members.  Numbers of participants grew to the point where a second team from AHS was registered to compete in the science team league that includes over a dozen other high schools in the North Shore Science League.  Membership on the team has continued to grow to the point that a third AHS science team was registered for this past season.

The science team travels once a month during the six science meet season to compete at competitions hosted by one of the member schools.  There are three divisions (A, B, and C) in which teams complete and AHS fields a team for of the divisions.  It's a highly competitive league and finishing among the top teams is a worthy accomplishment. However, the AHS teams pulled off an accomplishment that was especially notable.  Not only did the A team, competing in the most competitive division, edge out Cambridge Rindge and Latin to finish in first place for the year-long season, both the AHS B team and the AHS C team also finished in first place for the year.

The team is coached by AHS science teachers Deb Burch and Sarah Fisher.  This was a particularly special team accomplishment for Coach Burch since her impending retirement at the end of this school year made this her last season supporting the team.  Many thanks to Ms. Burch for her many years of support to the team and best of luck in the future!
